Infographics Review
The app that I used to make my infographic was Easel.ly. Easel.ly is a free app that allows individuals to create several different kinds of infographics. Easel.ly was launched in 2012 and has become the "go-to site for users to create eye-catching, informative, and fun graphics on the web." According to Easel.ly's website, their mission is "to inspire and enable anyone to represent an idea in a visual way." Easel.ly is a website that features thousands of free infographic templates and design objects which users can customize to create and share their visual ideas online.
Easel.ly is ideal for educators, students, business owners, and executives who need to convey a thought, lesson plan, or concept in an easy-to-follow visual form. Easel.ly won awards for being both user friendly and intuitive in 2015. Furthermore, Easel.ly was announced best website for teaching and learning in 2015 by the American Association of School Librarians. The AASL commended Easel.ly for being "simple enough that even a child in the 6th grade could successfully navigate the site and design their infographic without adult assistance." My personal experience with Easel.ly was amazing. I found the app a bit more challenging than using Easel.ly on my computer. On the computer, Easel.ly was extremely easy to work and allowed me to use several different tools to create a infographic that I was proud of. I could use Easel.ly in teaching by making infographics to hang up into my personal classroom. This will allow me to fill my classroom walls with posters that I personally created.
